After organizing two consecutive editions, the Urban Expo and Forum has established itself as the premier event for exploring urban development prospects in Libya. It serves as a vital platform for transforming ideas into actionable strategies and policies that can be implemented on the ground.

By hosting open discussions involving the public and key stakeholders—including urban planners, architects, policymakers, and financiers—these experts demonstrate a shared commitment to pursuing a prosperous future for the Libyan people.

A select group of elite engineering consultancy firms participated in the exhibition to encourage partnerships with international centers of expertise. This participation aims to foster expansion and the acquisition of advanced skills in management, design, and supervision for current and upcoming real estate development projects announced by both the public and private sectors.

The key highlights of this edition of the Urban Expo and Forum Tripoli 2023

A photo exhibition titled “Italian Rationalist Architecture in Libya” was organized in cooperation with the Italian Embassy in Tripoli, the Italian Trade Agency, and the Italian Cultural Institute.

A panel discussion was held alongside the exhibition, featuring architects Walter Baricchi and Giuseppe Cangialosi. The session highlighted the restoration and rehabilitation project of the Islamic Secondary School in Dahra, which is being implemented by the Organization for Development of Administrative Centres (ODAC).

An annual event launched by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2017, in cooperation with the Italian Ministry of Culture, this initiative features a series of events organized by cultural centers and trade missions within Italian embassies worldwide. Its purpose is to showcase the characteristics and advantages of Italian design across all fields.

The theme for Italian Design Day 2023 was “The Quality that Lights Up: The Energy of Design for People and the Environment.”

The day’s program included several activities, most notably a showcase of prominent Italian lighting designers and leading Italian companies in the industry. The focus was on the creative lifecycle of a product—from the initial design phase to the selection of high-quality materials and artisanal craftsmanship.

The forum hosted Italian designer Agustina Bittoni, who spoke about her creative journey, alongside several prominent Libyan figures from the design sector.
